BeFounded in 2005 to celebrate the beauty, the unique vibrancy and the richness of the Pacific Island cultures. Whilst initially formed to teach, share and expose aspects of their amazing cultures, the enchanting rhythms of the Pacific captivated audiences which lead to the formation of a performing group which is proud to provide electric ‘home-grown' entertainment to UK & European audiences. Beats of Polynesia are dedicated to upholding traditional forms of the culture while incorporating the popular modern dance & music, accompanied by live drumming with the UK's only traditional and authentic Cook Island log wood drums. Throughout 2005 & 2006 Beats of Polynesia have supported Polynesian, Pacific and European communities and have entertained at private and commercial events throughout the UK. The group perform items from the Pacific islands of Hawaii, Tahiti, Cook Islands, Samoa, Tonga & Fiji. 'Bo Axelzon and His Exotic Orchestra' This is a project that has developed over the years. They had been playing music, each in different constellations. Adam wanted to do an exotica influenced musical feature. Bo, that had been playing a lot of the Latin repertoire, thought it would be a great idea. So back in 1995 they started with what would become Bo Axelzon and His Exotic Orchestra. Adam had been doing Hawaiian themed concerts and wanted to take it even further. Since Bo and Adam both plays drums they decided that it would be nice if they didn't use a drum kit all the time and instead did as the Cuban groups, used congas and timbales as the backbone. Live they can use different constellations depending on what kind of setting it is. To this special occasion they have put together a seven piece orchestra. When asking them what they like with there music they replay, –The music we are playing is atmospheric and only a part of the whole tiki experience. Bo has a long history in music. During the late 50's and early 60's he played with Charro Pampa ( Raul La Porte ) and also Erik Frank . Then he toured with his own compellations in Scandinavia and Russia . Adam played with different groups as a guest musician; groups like Candlemass and Word of Life . He also did some of his own music and was signed with the label Subliminal Sounds who put out Bo and Adams first exotica themed 10” . He has also been involved with the design of Tiki Room Stockholm and created cocktails for the establishment. 'Bikini Beach Band' After meeting for the first time at their father Jesus C. Escovido's funeral the four Escovido (half) brothers formed the Bikini Beach Band in order to preserve the legacy of his Mexican Surf Guitar music . The Bikini Beach Band's unique approach to guitar instrumental music dubbed ‘ Surf Noir' by their aficionados has taken them all the way from their humble beginnings on the beaches of Mexico to those of Nice and Brighton via nightclubs such as Gypsy Hotel and Guilty Pleasures and festivals including The Big Chill, Glastonbury, Lost Vagueness, Bestival and Lovebox . Now based in Hackney the boys continue to wow their audiences with their musical audacity and wit whilst maintaining the authentic twang so redolent of the great Hank Marvin or Duane Eddy . Constantly name-dropped by the leading entertainers of the day, they number pop stars Pulp and Oasis and Comedians The Mighty Boosh , John Hegley and Hugh Laurie amongst their admirers. The last year has seen these Conquistadors of Surf-Noir charging the imaginary giants of Rock and Roll armed with their recent album ‘ Tide's Out..?' and following through with the soon to be released ‘Sour Cream for the Burning Soul' a new waxing featuring tunes from Amy Winehouse and The Arctic Monkeys through classics from The Osmonds and G. Rossini to a smattering of Escovido-penned original material. . Radio play on BBC channels 1 and 6 along with another flurry of festivals and club gigs through the summer of 2007 will see the flag of Surf-Noir flying high and proud above the nation once more. ‘Tide's Out..?' album out now ‘Cocktail Master Class’
